New Charcuterie and Cutting Board Designs for Spring Entertaining

After the holidays, we often settle in for a few months’ hibernation before venturing out to gather with friends and family again. 

There’s something about Spring that gets my creative juices flowing.  Like a bear coming out of hibernation, shaking off the dust…hungry to be active again. 

In my case, I evaluate all the products available on my website, deleting a few to create space for something new.  This “spring cleaning” allows me time to develop and build new products to keep things fresh. 

Most recently, I’ve been working on a few new cutting and charcuterie board designs that I’m very excited to share… 

This first example is a design I’ve dubbed my “Split Personality” Cutting Boards. 

These edge-grain cutting boards combine Dark Walnut and Hard Maple woods, with accent stripes in Padauk, a deep red, exotic wood from Africa. 

This distinctive look was created by running two positive/negative image boards through the table saw at a 10-degree angle.  The pieces were then switched and re-glued to create two 2-tone boards. 

A juice groove was cut around the border using my router.   I also carved out handles in the ends, making it easier to pick up and flip to the other side. 

You can use the side with the juice groove for carving meat, and the other side for chopping vegetables. 

These two mirror boards are real conversation pieces that add an artistic touch to a well-appointed kitchen. 

My newest creation I’m calling Puzzle Charcuterie Boards. 

Constructed of African Mahogany, each piece measures nine square inches of usable space to hold your favorite snack. 

The male side works as a handle, and the female side is the perfect size to hold a plastic cup of your favorite beverage.  (I know, it’s called Wine Country Woodcraft, but beer and soda drinkers are always welcome!) 

Your guests will appreciate a charcuterie board that allows you to hold both food and a drink in only one hand!
